Ceylon Sapphire

Ceylon Sapphire

The Ceylon sapphires set in Kat Florence jewelry are primarily selected from rough Sapphires found throughout the Hills and Rivers of Ratnapura district of Sri Lanka.

Our resident Gem Hunter Don Kogen’s business is trading rough Sapphire to be sold to supply most of the market. Kogen grades the rough selecting out the very few unique Natural Color Ceylon sapphires for Kat Florence. With the ratio being as low as 1 piece per 200 kilos of rough Sapphire discovered during pan mining in rivers or alluvial deposits throughout the Island of Sri Lanka.  The selected Sapphires consist of the finest Royal and Cornflower blues, Hot Pink, Yellows, Violet Purples and the perfect color lotus Padparadsha Sapphires.

Kat Florence’s Ceylon sapphires are regularly featured in the most important Auction houses around the world. As untreated sapphires of this carat weight and quality are exceptionally rare.
